LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

Dear Fellow Members,

This is something near and dear to my heart. I follow the legislature everyday and watch for legislation regarding abortion. There are some state representatives and some state senators that keep trying to push through bills to make them into laws.

You remember the House Bill 26, which would have undone all the prolife legislative progress in the last 52 years in our state. Well, they keep introducing parts of it. 

Circulated by Rep. Mary Jo Dailey (mjdaley@pahouse.net) and by Melissa Shusterman (mshusterman@pahouse.net) is HR 1640: would protect healthcare records related to reproductive services from disclosure in Pennsylvania civil and criminal actions/investigations. HB 1641: would prohibit Pennsylvania courts from cooperating with out-of-state civil and criminal cases involving reproductive healthcare services and prevent officials from other states from arresting individuals in Pennsylvania for abortion-related crimes. HB 1642: would prohibit Pennsylvania courts from cooperating with out-of-state civil and criminal cases involving reproductive healthcare services and prevent officials from other states from arresting individuals in Pennsylvania for abortion-related crimes. HB 1643: would prohibit Pennsylvania courts from enforcing other states’ judgments in cases involving the provision of reproductive healthcare services. HB 1644: would protect Pennsylvania’s abortion providers from having their home addresses disclosed to the public. HB 1645: would instruct our state’s healthcare licensure boards to not take adverse action against healthcare providers who offer reproductive services to out-of-state residents. HB 1638: would require pharmacies to use, upon request, the name of a physician’s healthcare practice instead of their personal name on prescription labels for mifepristone, misoprostol, and their generic alternatives.

These are bad bills. All these bills were referred to committees on June 23, 2025.

Also, in the Senate: Senator Amanda Cappelletti (capppelletti@pasenate.com) introduced SB 837 Reproductive Freedom Act which is referred to Judiciary Committee.

We can’t let these bills pass!

Please explain to these legislators that someone dies during every abortion, a human being. These are all evil bills.

First, we have to pray and fast.

Second, we have to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Please write a potent, pointed letter letting them know how you feel. I know I am, but I do not have room to post it in this article. Let them know abortion is not health care. Healthcare is about prevention of harm and promotes healing. Abortion is an intrinsic evil. Remind them of the commandment of thou shalt not kill.

They really need to hear from us. We pay state taxes and therefore we pay their salary.
